Cashew tree fruit is unusual, because it consists of two parts: «cashew apple» and the nut itself; as a matter of fact the cashew apple is scientifically a pseudo fruit, because it is a swollen pedicel, on which the nut itself is located. Cashew apple can be yellow, orange or red, it’s a very fleshy fruit with sour-sweet taste. At the top of such apple there is a nut in a hard shell, which with the ripening becomes dark green, almost brown in colour.

 

Cashew is grown in 32 countries of the world with warm and humid climate. Cashew is rich with proteins and carbohydrates, vitamins А, В2, В1 and ferrum, contain zinc, phosphor, calcium.
